Ok, considering I love everything Travis Maddox, I have no idea what took me so long to read this book.
Maybe because I thought it would just be more of the same, but no. McGuire, being the rock star writer that she is gives us more. Everything we could have ever wanted in knowing what happened before my favorite couple tied the know in Vegas.
Honestly, when I first read Beautiful Disaster I couldn't fathom why Abby would want to get married in Vegas, she hated that place. But this book explains it so well.

The repercussions of the fire and the angst Travis experienced were things I had not even considered and yet made me love him even more. So if you are like me, don't wait any longer. Pick up this book and read it now, you will be so happy. The only problem is it will remind you of all the reasons you loved the first book so much you just want to reread it, and with my long TBR list, that is could be a problem.
I read the negative reviews of this book and went ahead and downloaded it. I am so glad I did. Abby never made decisions based on love, so it was no real surprise that she was trying to protect Travis as he had tried to protect her for months. She loved Travis, but showing love was completely foreign to her because other than America and her family, Abby hadn't had much love until Travis.
She said it was all about providing him an alibi, but it was really about keeping the man she loved. She would never admit that though. Travis knew she was up to something and knew she was rescuing him. He just didn't know for certain she knew she was rescuing him. Abby is complicated; Travis is not. He doesn't ask for more than someone can give, and he loved Abby enough to just go with it.
I think getting the tattoo really was her way of saying she was all in so he knew she was certain.
I thought the wedding was beautiful. Elvis and all. The second one wasn't necessary for me, but at least they got the honeymoon they didn't get with the first one. I can't wait for Trent's story to come out in July. As wild as Travis was, his brother may be a lot freer.
A Beautiful Wedding (Beautiful, #) by Jamie McGuire
Nothing seems to be too much for him. Hardcover Verified Purchase. I was so excited to be able to find out what happens during the wedding. It was a part in both Beautiful Disaster and Walking Disaster that was kind of skipped over.
You know it happened and because of Walking Disaster you get to find out how they are years down the road, but neither book gave you details about the wedding itself. I was frustrated about it because of course, I wanted to know! There was a lot more to them getting married than I knew. I didn't know that Abby did it for a certain reason and I was kind of wishing she would tell Travis why she was doing it.
It wasn't until Travis gave her the envelope from his mom that I saw something in her change and put in her whole self. I really enjoyed being able to follow the wedding as well as a year later, too. This book alternates between Abby and Travis as well, so unlike the first two books in this series, you get both of them in one book. I liked being able to switch it back and forth.
They also overlapped so in parts where you wanted to know what the other was thinking, it would backtrack just a little so you could get both sides at that exact time. Travis makes you want to cry in this book. The fear and happiness he has is breathtaking and heartbreaking at the same time.
When you get to hear his side of things and the passion and need he has for the wedding gives you emotions that can knock you down if you aren't sitting already.
One thing I loved was the last chapter. To see all the people that came together for them, even the ones that didn't see to support them in the other books was so sweet. It was nice to see how they all came together and were able to work in friends with people that they didn't used to get along with.
I enjoyed reading it and getting a little glimpse of some of the secondary characters. This was a nice treat to go along with the books and helped me swoon and be all girly just a little bit longer: One person found this helpful. Beautiful Disaster is one of my all time favorite reads.
I have read many more times than once. Walking Disaster was wonderful, too and I have read it more than once as well. You see I am a serial re-reader if I truly love the book.
We start off on the night of the fire, in Keaton Hall. Travis is dealing with the guilt he feels. Abby is panicking internally, contemplating whether or not Travis will be sought out by the police. Abby then hatches a plan, unknown to Travis her true motivation.
Abby proposes to Travis. Now we all know how the story plays out once they return from Vegas. However what happens in Vegas had stayed in Vegas until Jamie finally gave us the full story. I love Abby and Travis. Pidge and Trav will always be one of my all time favorite book couples. The author gives us a couple who are far from perfect. They are both flawed.
Through all of the obstacles thrown their way, they remain united. Bimbos, fights, leaving, Parker, Vegas I hate that Abby doubts herself constantly. I loved having another chance to read Abby and Travis.
I would be over the moon, if Jamie decided to give us another Abby and Travis story. Maybe if we make enough noise, all together, we can convince Jamie we need more Trav and Pidge.

I looked at him, resolute. He was mine, and I was his. If I knew anything at all, it was that only those two things mattered. He furrowed his brow. Not even for him.
He had gone through hell while we were apart. I half expected him to tell me to get the hell out for even mentioning it, but this was the only plan I had, and I was desperate. We just needed to be somewhere else. He looked around his bedroom, searching the darkness for what he thought I wanted to hear. He would never agree to go. He probably thought it was a test, but the only thing I wanted was for him to say yes.
His mouth parted, forming a silent gasp. I waited lifetimes until his lips curved upward, and he sealed his mouth on mine. His kiss screamed a thousand different emotions. My brain felt swollen with warring thoughts of relief and panic. This was going to work. We would get married, Travis would have an alibi, and everything would be okay. Oh, hell. I was getting married. Travis Abby Abernathy was famous for one thing: She could commit a crime and smile like it was any other day, lie without a twitch in her eye.
Only one person in the world had any chance of learning her Tell, and that one person had to figure it out if he wanted to have any chance with her. It might not make sense to most people, but it made perfect sense to me. It was the absence of that Tell that gave her away. The peace in her eyes, the softness in her smile, the relaxation of her shoulders alerted me that something was wrong.
Sitting in the terminal, waiting to board a plane to Vegas, with Abby snuggled into the curve of my body, I knew it was easy to try to ignore. It was hard to be happy about what we were about to do with the cloud of so many deaths hanging above our heads.
No, really, it was literally above our heads. A television on the wall displayed the local news. Footage of the fire and the latest updates scrolled across the screen. They interviewed Josh Farney. He was fairly hammered when I saw him before the fight. Most of the people who came to the Circle either came drunk or worked their way up to a buzz while they waited for me and my opponent to trade blows. From experience, I knew that the memory of a tragedy could be misplaced.
Attaching this date to something we would celebrate year after year would keep it front and center in our minds. Damn, they were still bringing out bodies, and I was acting like this was an annoyance.
That selfish thought led to guilt, and that guilt led to a lie. It was a sheer miracle that we were getting married right now, anyway. So I focused on her, and what we were about to do. I wanted to be a normal, so-excited-I-might-puke groom-to-be, and she deserved nothing less. The living proof was snuggled up next to me.
On the television screen, the anchorwoman standing outside Keaton Hall held the microphone with both hands, a frown line between her eyebrows. Back to you, Kent. So many had died, of course they were going to hold someone accountable.
Would he go to prison? Would I? I hugged Abby to me and kissed her hair. A woman behind a desk picked up a mic and began to speak, and my knee started to bounce uncontrollably. I felt like I could have made it there before the plane. She sounded like the teacher in those Peanuts cartoons: The only thing that made sense were the thoughts on repeat inside my head: It was almost time. Shit, yeah! Fuck, yes! I was getting married!
